Glass blowing is ancient craft that was once steeped in mystery. The origins of the glass forming technique known as glass blowing
are believed to go back as far as 50 BC. On each hour we will show you the basic techniques of glass blowing, describing the process in detail as we complete each piece. We begin each show by gathering a nugget of molten glass from our mobile furnace. The mobile furnace emits a jet like roar and holds the molten glass at a constant temperature of 11'000 degrees. Using wetted folded sheets of newspaper we centre the molten glass on a iron Centering the glass is one of the most important steps in glass blowing. We will re create a classic Roman vase called a amphora with the skills and tools used that have remain unchanged since that time. We will also be recreating our 17th century wine glasses by methods of which had until recently been lost as the glass foundries of the industrial revolution closed down. Everything we make is for sale and you can see our full range on display in our enormous marquee. Please do come to this show as you will never forget it or thank us enough for recommending it.
Please ring if you have special requests or message you would like engraving onto any of our glass range
